MEDAL AND HEADLINE PARTNER: PRINCESS YACHTS
London Design Biennale 2018 Best Design Medal in partnership with PRINCESS YACHTS
Since 1965, Princess Yachts has been building luxury yachts to universal acclaim in Plymouth, south-west England. Blending cutting-edge innovation with traditional craftsmanship, these yachts are not only some of the most technically advanced, but they are also recognized as the most beautifully crafted, too. Princess shipyards cover over 1.1 million square feet of an area rich in British maritime tradition. This heritage continues at Princess Yachts with its 2,900 employees, each possessing mastery of their skill, passed down through generations or gained by apprenticeship.
“It was with great pleasure that Princess partnered with the 2018 London Design Biennale. Princess is considered a leader in luxury yacht design; however, we really take pride in our unique position as one of the greatest manufacturing stories still in existence in the UK. We have a strong emotional bond with our employees and our heritage, and so the theme of London Design Biennale 2018 resonated deeply. As a company, we have recently undergone a very emotional journey with the creation of the R Class. The R Class for us was all about relentlessly chartering forward and pushing the boundaries of innovation, while at the same time never compromising our roots and our heritage. We have worked closely with the Plymouth College of Art to communicate what this evolution has meant to us, and to provoke reflection and discussion among visitors about setting charter on the course that is life. We enjoyed engaging with everyone throughout the event at Somerset House.” Kiran Jay Haslam, Marketing Director, Princess Yachts
